Puhuri adds a button to your site that lets visitors listen to your content read aloud. It works in articles, pages, and every other content type. AI turns the text into natural-sounding speech, and playback starts within a few seconds.
Why Puhuri exists
More and more people want to listen to content rather than read it: on the commute, out for a run, or while doing chores. Listenability is also accessibility. It serves people with visual impairments or dyslexia, along with anyone who finds reading long text on a screen tiring.
Until now, professional audio content has been a chore: either someone records the articles by hand, or the site is hooked up to an expensive standalone service. Puhuri does the same job with a single block, right inside WordPress.
What’s in it for the visitor
- Listen anywhere. The content comes along even when your eyes are busy with something else.
- Fast start. Playback begins right away, even for long texts.
- A proper player. Pause, seek, 15-second skips, and playback speed control.
- Accessible. The player works with a keyboard and a screen reader.
- The right language. Content is always read in its own language, including on multilingual sites.
What’s in it for the site owner
- Works everywhere. The same block fits articles, pages, and your own custom content types.
- Easy to set up. Install the plugin, add your license key, and drop the Puhuri block into your content — that’s it.
- You pay for content, not popularity. Once the audio has been produced, every later listen plays the ready-made recording at no extra cost.
- You decide what gets read. You can limit narration to the body text and leave out things like ads or captions. Code listings and tables are skipped automatically.
- Works with multilingual plugins. Puhuri detects the content’s language straight from Polylang or WPML, so each translation is read in the correct language with no separate configuration.
- Adapts to your theme. The player’s colors, icons, and dimensions follow your theme’s styles.
- Secure. Your license key stays on the server and never reaches the visitor’s browser, so no outsider can read their own texts using your license.
How it works
Puhuri has two parts: a WordPress plugin that runs on your site, and the Puhuri service in the background that produces the actual speech.
- The visitor clicks the Listen to content button on the page.
- WordPress extracts the readable text — only from published content, and only from the parts you’ve allowed.
- The text is sent to the Puhuri service, which verifies the site’s license.
- If the same content has been listened to before, the ready audio is available instantly. Otherwise the AI begins reading the text, and the visitor hears the narration as it’s produced. The audio is stored for the next listeners.
- The player opens in place of the button and playback begins.
When content is edited, the audio is automatically regenerated the next time someone listens. The version people hear therefore always matches the published text.
Pricing
The price consists of two parts: a monthly fee and the amount of speech produced. Each text is converted to speech only once, after which it can be listened to thousands of times at no extra cost. So you pay for the volume of content, not for how popular it is.
